LECTURES
The ELTECH Lectureships
The ELTECH Lectureship was initiated by Prof. Ernest B. Yeager as Director of the Case Center for Electrochemical Sciences in the early 1970's in conjunction with its industrial sponsor ELTECH Systems. Prof. Yeager had a long standing relationship with Prof. Vittorio de Nora, the principal in ELTECH. Prof. de Nora was noted for his commercialization of the Dimensionally Stable Anode (DSA) that revolutionized chlorine production worldwide and electrochemical research in general. He also endowed the de Nora Medal for the Industrial Electrochemistry Division of the Electrochemical Society. In the mid-seventies, a proposal was developed by Prof. Yeager and enthusiastically embraced by Prof de Nora to further increase the focus on electrochemistry on the Case campus. The Electrode Division of Diamond Shamrock provided a sufficient endowment income to allow a distinguished electrochemist to spend one week on campus, lecturing and interacting with students, faculty and industry. In 1983, Electrode became ELTECH Systems, which is currently headquartered in Chardon, Ohio and is still the world leader in DSA technology. ELTECH continues to participate with the Yeager Center in this highly regarded program. This list of lecturers a who's who of electrochemists worldwide.
