Electrochemical Measurements Workshop

An intensive one-week workshop that combines lectures, hands-on laboratory sessions and demonstrations oriented primarily towards meeting the needs of industrial and government laboratory scientists, engineers, and other highly trained technical employees in fundamental aspects of electrochemical science and technology.

The course emphasizes fundamental techniques and analysis and interpretation of experimental data in electrochemistry and also includes small group discussions.

Small-Group Discussions

The Principal Instructor will hold small group sessions of 3-4 participants to discuss specific issues

Principal Instructor

Professor Eliezer Gileadi
  • Recipient of the Olin Palladium Award of the Electrochemical Society for distinguished contributions to the field of electrochemistry and Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (FRSC). Professor of Chemistry, Tel-Aviv University, ISRAEL and Adjunct Professor of Chemical Engineering at Case.
  • Research Interests: Electrode kinetics, Electrosorption, Electroplating, Electrochemistry in non-aqueous solvents, Alloy deposition.

  • Vice President, OMARC, Norwood, MA, Ph.D. Central Electrochemical Research Institute, Karaikudi, India
  • Researdch Interests: Fuel cells and Power sources, Electrochemical oxygen concentrators and Industrial electrolysis.

Professor Daniel Scherson
  • Professor of Chemistry at Case, Ph.D., University of California at Davis.
  • Research Interests: In-situ Spectroscopy, Electrocatalysis, Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Energy Storage.
Professor Thomas Zawodzinski
  • Professor of Chemical Engineering and Director of the Case Advanced Power Institute at Case.
  • Research Interests: Fuel Cells, Electrochemistry of Energy Conversion and Storage Devices, NMR Spectroscopy and Imaging, Transport/Structure in Polymer Electrolytes.

Location

The Case campus is located on Cleveland's East side in the University Circle area. The Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is approximately 30 minutes away from the University, and the Downtown area is 15 minutes away.

A block of rooms has been reserved (until August 11, 2005) at the Glidden House Inn, 1901 Ford Dr., Cleveland, OH 44106, (216) 231-8900, which is walking distance from the Case Campus, at a special rate of $129.00 per night. Please mention Electrochemical Measurements Workshop when making your reservations.

REGISTRATION AND FEES

Registration fee of $1850.00 includes: tuition, lecture notes, continental breakfast, lunch, daily coffee/soda breaks, campus parking, and a banquet dinner (Tuesday evening). Payment must be made in advance of the workshop. Checks should be made out to "Case - YCES Fall Workshop" and should be received no later than August 15, 2005.
